What is Confirmation?
Confirmation is a declaration of acceptance of your baptism and the desire to take ownership of your faith in Jesus Christ. This is a time in which youth and families have the opportunity to know and deepen their faith and listen to God’s call in our lives. It is also an integral part of the spiritual journey in which God, your family, our congregation, and the Hastings community all play a role.
The St. Philip's confirmation program is structured as a three-year program beginning in the fall of seventh grade and culminating in a formal confirmation service during the fall of tenth grade. Weekly classes are offered on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. during the school year.
During Confirmation, students and families can look forward to:
Service Opportunities
Holiday celebrations
Worship leading
Leadership opportunities
Mentoring (each confirmand connects with a mentor over the season of Lent)
Dedicated education time covering Old Testament, New Testament, and Lutheran Living topics
Loving and knowledgeable teachers
Additional topic-based Bible studies
Christmas party fun with part of the 9th grade class and one of their teachers, Pastor Geier.
Cosmic Bible Study 2018
Our group explored the connections between faith and science in a series of Bible Studies and Field Trips
